What is Meditation?

Meditation is completely safe and has no ill side effects, it is also drug and medication free. It requires you sitting comfortably in an upright chair and in a quite space. You can exercise prior to meditation but this is not necessary, you can simply just tense and release your body several times.

Meditation is a process that takes you into a state of altered consciousness. It begins with taking deep breaths to calm and still the body and can be full of colourful visualisations and/or feelings. During meditation you can go anywhere you like. You can sit on a beech in Spain; visit the Moon or meet with Angels, the choice is yours. All you need is some time and a quite space.

Most people think that the purpose of mediation is to focus on nothing at all, that isn’t true and is virtually impossible. During meditation you try to empty your mind, by doing so thoughts will inevitably creep in. It’s okay if that happens, all you do is acknowledge the thought that is there and let it go. I call this the clearing process that then allows you to progress with your meditation.

Can Anyone Meditate?

Yes anyone can meditate; it just takes a little practice. If you are new to meditation then I would recommend that you only sit for 5-10 minutes a time. As you get better you can extend the time you sit.

You can only sit as long as the meditation lasts and you should find that you will reach a point when you know or feel its time to come back.

Why Meditate?

I believe that meditation is a form of self-healing as well as a tool for spiritual development. Meditation can be done solely for the purpose of healing, however, on any journey during meditation you are entering a subconscious state and taking you mind, body and soul to a place where healing occurs. For Example, You may sit on a cloud and be visited by an Angel. This Angels will usually have a message for you and could possibly be giving you the answer to something that has been niggling at you. At the end of the meditation healing has occurred because the stress of the situation may now be gone.

Alternatively, you may choose to fly through the air with an eagle. If you have had a particularly stressful day, the sheer freedom that comes from experiencing this visualisation or from the feeling of flying, could be enough to recharge your batteries and help you unwind.

What you do and where you go during meditation is entirely up to you, the important thing is that you do meditate. I will give three examples of meditations that you can try and use. One to balance your charkas, one for balancing chakras and one for a spiritual journey.

There are many benefits of meditation and listed below are a few of them.

Keeping a Meditation Journal

Keeping a Meditation Journal is an excellent tool for self development. After each meditation, take a little time to write up your experiences, your thoughts and feelings during the meditation. Then look back at it. You may find that patterns emerge and this is an excellent way if getting in touch with your inner being.

The journal also shows how your mediation skills and the meditations themselves develop over time.

It is not essential that you keep a journal; it is a purely personal thing and a personal choice.

Should Music be Playing?

Yes and No.

It is not essential that Music be played. Meditation can be done without it. You may even find that during meditation you actually block the music out, as with any other outside noises.

I can’t see that Deep Rock and Heavy Metal would help meditation any but there are specialist recordings that do. You may find that music adds another dimension to your meditation and makes it more enjoyable. Music can help to limit the interference from outside noise and it can help to relax your mind.

Should I Use Incense During Meditation?

Again the answer to this is both Yes ands No?

It is not necessary to use incense or burn oils to enjoy a meditation. Certain scents may help you to relax and there is no harm in using them. Certain scents may add another dimension to your meditation by using your sense of smell to enhance meditation. An example of this would be to use garden or floral scents for meditation in a secret garden.

You can burn oils, incense or candles prior to staring the meditation to fill the room with a certain aroma. Be careful of burning candles and incense whilst meditating, as there are certain fire risks involved. Remember that meditation takes you into a state of altered consciousness and naked flames should not be left unattended.

We have a selection of Candle Burners and Oils in our Online Shop.
